In my search for discovering more information about the Kay Musical Instrument Company, I've set out to find any living employees to attempt to interview them. These are the individuals I have found in my research and exhausted all attempts to contact them or direct descendants.

Staff

In 1965, after moving to their new Elk Grove Village location, they increased the number of employees from less than 250 to more than 500. They also had 21 long-time employees that had a total of 467 years of experience between them (a weird metric, I know) which would average at 22 years of experience per person. They also had about a dozen married couples employed and fathers whose children also worked with the company, according to Katz [1].

  • John Zych, service department manager, began as a sander in 1930. Helped develop a skinny bass for the Navy to use in their submarines. It was 'regulation' height and width but the sides were half as wide. [1]
  • Joyce De Wilde, key punch operator, began in 1963 [1]
  • Anna Goossen, final assembly, began in late 1964 [1]
  • Ralph Thunberg, began as a banjo assembler and has worked through every department, began in 1924. Longest employed worker as of 1964 [1]
  • Frank Ward, unknown [2]
  • Dick Ecker, general foreman, [3]
  • William Sarnoff, unknown. [3]
  • Truman Deede, finishing department manager [4]
