I buy vintage guitars, parts, catalogs, and more
I'm always looking for my next project or even a great piece of history to digitize. Feel free to contact me with instruments in any condition and any collection of parts and we can work something out.
Thanks for the terrific compilation of info on Kay and Harmony guitars. I've owned/repaired/donated plenty in my time. Presently I'm "building" a KayKraft Venetian style A archtop, and I'm thinking about replacing the existing adjustable 14 fret-to-body neck with a 12 fret-to-body. The bracing on the 14 fret version involves a shallow X pattern but it is contained in the lower bout below the bridge, so....I'm thinking I might try to convert it to a 12 fret guitar so the bridge rests on the X brace--wondering if anyone else has considered this, and if so, what the outcome may have been. Thanks again for your hard work.
ReplyDeleteNo problem! That is very cool, I haven't owned a Kay Kraft yet so I haven't seen the bracing to comment on that. Good luck!
DeleteI have a Kay flat top and am interested in finding out what it is worth and possibly selling it. How do I find out what it is worth?
ReplyDeleteSend me an email and I'll let you know what model and year it is
DeleteWe inherited a Kay Banjo, and the only reason we believe that it is kay is due to the engraving on the tailpiece. We are uncertain. I am attaching pictures. Will you please help verify or identify our instrument? Thank you in advance! I tried to use the Contact me section but it asks to enter a captcha that doesn't pop up.
ReplyDeleteI was trying to contact you without success, can you give your email? I've bought a Kay and I've a few questions about it. Kind regards
